MKR Hadrout Region Village of Arakiul

Arakiul Today

School: Renovation and Furnishing

The MKR Village of Arakiul school building was constructed in 1996, by the organization France Karabagh, today a member of YERKIR UNGO.

Architecturally and structurally, the building is presently in sound condition, however, certain repairs are needed, as well as new furniture. The only rooms which have new furniture are the principal's office and the teacher's room. The classroom furniture is in poor condition, as it is a collection of old desks and benches, obtained from various sources over the years.

The school also houses the village museum, which is in need of display cases where various historical artifacts of the village should be stored. The museum is also in need of curtains to protect the room from harmful sunlight. Curtains are also needed in the teacher's room and the principal's office. A deep storage case is also needed for various items such as chalk boards and maps.

In November 2003, Mrs. Ani Boyajian, the benefactor of the newly built “Hagop Boyajian Boghboch” kindergarten of Arakiul, sponsored the renovation and furnishing of the Arakiul school.

The project was divided into two phases: The first phase included the construction of two new bathrooms and the complete furnishing of the school, including the museum.

The second phase included the general renovation of the building, including installation of new doors, painting of the interiors, installation of a new electrical system and other miscellaneous repairs.

YERKIR UNGO believes that the people of Arakiul will, forever be indebted to Mrs. Ani Boyajian and the Boyajian family for this, their second recent contribution towards the future of the community.
