YERKIR UNGO's (Union of Non Governmental Organizations) village of Haykavan general development plan includes the construction of a new school, as undertaken by the YERKIR USA chapter.
In November 2004, YERKIR USA came to an agreement with the Armenian American Council for the Aging, a Glendale based organization with chapters and offices located throughout Southern California, based upon which, the senior's organization undertook sponsorship of the construction of the new school in the village of Haykavan.
The new school building is designed to house eight classrooms and multiple functional rooms and offices, as indicated in the above shown plan.
A. The building houses the following rooms:
1-8: Classrooms
9: Teacher's room
10: Principal's office
11: Library, internet room
12: Entrance area
13: Mechanical room
14: (2) Bathrooms
15: Genitor's room
B. Furniture:
The school building will be fully furnished with student desks and chairs, chalkboards and teacher's desks and chairs for every classroom, office desks and chairs, other necessary tables, bookcases, etc. The building will be designed and built to accommodate the physically challenged.
The construction of the new school in Haykavan is set to begin in February 2004 and end in August 2004. The opening ceremony of the school is scheduled to take place during the second half of August 2004.
