Pokr Masrik today

The village of Pokr Mastik is in the Vartenis district of the Geghargounik region. It is located 12 km from the Armenian-Azeri border, at an altitude of 1800 meters above sea level. It is 8 km from Vartenis and 4 km from Lake Sevan.

Pokr Masrik has a population of 950, 95% of whom are Armenian refugees from Azerbaijan. Agriculture and animal farming are the main occupations of the residents.

Roads and transportation
The Vartenis-Shorja-Sevan main road passes through the village, but part of the road is damaged. The streets within the village are unpaved. Nearby Armenian villages are Tretuk (5 km to the East), Kutakan (6 km to the North East) and Kakhkan (6km to the North).

Resources
The village relies on 4 artesian wells for its drinking water and for irrigation. The village and all homes have electricity.

Economy
The community owns 500 heads of cattle and 2,000 heads of sheep/goats.

School The village school serves 156 students.
Kindergarten The village kindergarten serves 20 children.The building need renovation.
Clinic The village has no clinic.
Cultural center The village has no cultrual center. The library operates out of the school.
